Sunrise

You are invited to participate in concert of songs, music & poetry that inspired courage and bravery in our soldiers that fought in the Great War for 'King & Country' and shaped our musical history from 1914 to today.

These songs & poems lifted the spirits of the people left behind and typified the Anzac soldier as an adventurous and 'happy-go-lucky' character. They will make you laugh, cry and wonder.

In addition to songs, poems & ditties from the time, the program will include contemporary material from the likes of Ted Egan, Eric Bogle, Judy Small & Ian Hamilton.

'For King & Country' took place originally in September 2015 as a special 'one-off' event conceived by local school teacher Maureen Morcom and presented by Maureen together with instrumentalists & singers from Loosely Woven including Sonia Bennett & Ian Hamilton.

It was revived in 2016 with numerous performances in Sydney and rural NSW.

These performances in Masterton and Featherston, New Zealand, are the result of a successful application by Loosely Woven member Christine Yardley for the 2017 Anzac Memorial Bridge Fellowship.
