NOSTALIGICA: Chuck Bradley
Manly Art Gallery & Museum
26 April - 23 June 2013

Chuck Bradley presents a new series of photographs developed while artist-in-residence recently at Manly Art Gallery & Museum, Sydney. He has drawn inspiration from an eclectic array of beach-related objects from Manly’s museum and other local collections to create quirky and evocative still life narratives with a distinctly retro-modern feel. This new series Nostalgica will be launched at Manly Art Gallery & Museum on 3 May as part of the 2013 Head On Photo Festival.

Chuck received his first camera as a graduation present from his parents who were anxious about his future career. The gift worked. Chuck’s first job was as a darkroom technician in a major photography studio. After a period assisting and learning from other photographers in the studio he ventured out by himself to freelance. He developed his own style and has continued to build on his successful career as a commercial photographer.  Chuck Bradley moved to Australia from his native USA in 1986.

In the last few years, Chuck has developed two key series of works: Life Aquatic and A Day at the Zoo. He worked closely with MAG&M curators to produce large scale transparencies from his Life Aquatic series which were hung in the Manly Sealife Sanctuary as a feature of the 2012 Manly Arts Festival.
