Denis Kevans

'The Beauty of the World' was the long-awaited sequel to the hugely successful 2004 'Fogs is the problem!' concert which featured the songs and poetry of Australia's Poet Lorikeet, Denis Kevans and Australia's 'Queen of Folk', Sonia Bennett. Sadly, Denis passed away in 2005, but Sonia was very much still with us and this concert featured many more of her songs and Denis's words. The concert had a strong, but not exclusively, environmental feel with other original songs by Kevin Murray together with the usual wide variety of material that you expect from a Loosely Woven concert. (Click on the 'Program' link on the left for details.) In 2008 performances took place in Sydney during August and early September with a final performance in Dungog in collaboration with the Dungog Warblers.

In addition to the public performances, we also performed 'The Beauty of the World' at W G Taylor Retirement Village (Narrabeen) and Seaside Assisted Apartments (Warriewood) on Sunday 3rd August 2008 and Willandra Village (Cromer) on Saturday 23rd August 2008.

Sadly, Sonia was unwell and not able to perform in the final two Sydney performances (New Theatre & Avalon) in 2008. Consequently, the concert was revived early 2009 in order for a recording and video to be made. Unfortunately, this attempt to get a good recording failed due to the ill health of other members of Loosely Woven. So, the concert was revived once again in 2010 with two 'sell-out' performances in Humph Hall.
